AMAs 2018: Best Dressed

Last night was the American Music Awards, and I wanted to share some of my favorite red carpet looks from the night - Enjoy!

Aside from the red carpet, I thought this year's AMAs was a great show! Taylor Swift's performance was the perfect to open the show - "I Did Something Bad" sounds amazing live and is so much more powerful than it is on the studio version. I actually would've loved to have seen this as her first single from reputation instead of "Look What You Made Me Do" - lyrically it is so much stronger and more impactful than I ever thought LWYMMD was.

 I also loved Camila Cabello's performance, as well - "Consequences" is such an underrated song from her album and shows off her strong vocals in a different way than her other songs. The orchestra in the background added so much to the beautiful performance. The music video for the song just came out today and is just as beautiful - Dave Meyers directed it and he's one of the best at bringing a song to life visually. 

 Dua Lipa's performance last night was easily the best I've seen from her. "One Kiss" and "Electricity" paired so well together as a medley and was overall such a fun performance. Her sound and style is so fresh and different than what everyone else is doing these days, which I really love about her. If you never heard any of her music before, or only heard her hits, I highly recommend listening to the rest of her music. I truly never heard a Dua Lipa song that I didn't love!

Doechii 's "Denial Is A River" is a sharply written story of her deeply personal struggles she has faced throughout her life, especially over the past few years. All while doing so, she also incorporates so much of her signature humor within it too. She is such a dynamic and captivating storyteller, one that is simultaneously very funny and clever, but also very real and honest.  In an interview with  Rolling Stone , Doechii opened up about the time in her life that inspired this song. "California" by Joni Mitchell // Song Review

Joni Mitchell wrote "California" all over the world, each verse was written in a different country and vividly depicts both the physical and emotional place she was at in those moments. From France, to Spain, to Greece, she writes a travelogue of her time in each country, but continuously wishes she were home in California instead. "Sitting in a park in Paris, France, reading the news and it sure looks bad," Joni sings in the opening lines of the song. "They won't give peace a chance, that was just a dream some of us had". The release of Justin Bieber 's My World 2.0 was a defining moment in pop culture history and signified the birth of one of the biggest phenomenon's the music industry has ever seen.
